£300 is a really small amount for all of any UK lockies tools (I'm not in the business and I have probably £700+ of only locksmithing tools) but personally I'd choose HPC's Pro-Mixer, A couple of 2 in 1 picks and a Safeventures curtain pick & some bits of pieces, mica etc.

:D thats why i only said £300. to see what tools people couldn live without. my first buy would be the old letter box, then mica, then cheap picks followed by a hard plate drill bit (seen as how were on a budget)

Good points, but if ALL of your tools were stolen, what would you do with the hardplate bit? (Out goes the 18V Dewalt XRP). I was only really thinking picks there to be honest, dunno why.

Well Headhunter, that's a nice basic North American kit.

Here is the problem. UK.

In a country where the most common lock is probably the 5 lever lock, the picks can cost several hundred pounds each.

Yes, most of these locks are backed up with a pin tumbler style rim latch, or mortice cylinder but in order to work in a non destructive manner, you have to be able to pick the BS lever locks, and that can run into the thousands of pounds.

I do believe though that the kit you outlined can be had for 300 pounds or there abouts.

sounds like the locks cost more than the doors

in that case i would buy a second hand sabre saw and a second hand elec drill to drill my start point for the saw blade

the yellow pages is free over the pond right
gonna need a decent door factory on speed dial

Cor £300 wouldnt even get you a chubb pick so i would be forced to sell my body till i had enough to get some decent kit, mind due it would probably take a while that way.

Um

£ 300 pounds wouldn't get alot let alone any of the pin and cam picks or that new ERA Invincible pick that I just got

I'll do a write up on it later but its faster opening than the 3g114 pin and cam
