Modding a Masterlock #5 for practicing

Postby jomepunk » 1 Feb 2005 1:58

I'm new to picking and am in the process of modding a Masterlock for repinning (to give me something to do until my U-Key set comes from Varjeal.) I'm drilling out the rivets on the bottom side of the lock so that I can remove the bottom plate and access the cylinder to repin it.

My problem is that I haven't thought of a good way to hold the bottom plate on when I put the lock back together. Can any of you think of a good way to clip the bottom on, non-permanently?

Thanks

What I would do is completely remove the rivets one at a time. After each rivet is removed replace it with a machine screw and a nut. That should allow you to disassemble and reassemble when needed.

I'm with funboy. Here's an example of one I've done in this manner. Hope this helps....

I ended up leaving one of the rivets undrilled. It's pretty tight, but I can spin the plate around to get to the cylinder. Unfortunately, I ended up killing the rubber Master logo band :(

I'll post pics if anyone is interested (and I can find a good place to host the images)
