Information on this site...?

Hi all! (first post... good start so far)

I've been browsing the forums for a bit trying to find information about this site
http://www.locksmith-tools.co.uk/
But can't seem to find anything, has anyone got any experiances with this site?

And, a dreaded n00b question (yes, I have read the FAQ but I like being told) would the Five Piece Euro/Jap set on that site be suitable for someone totally new to lock picking with no major aspirations, just wanting a new hobby to toy about with? (ack, really really sorry for asking :-)

Cheers!

I bought a C1500 set from them, or at least a lovely lady friend of mine bought them for me. I must say i had to wait a few weeks on them but i think they were out of stock for a while. All in all the picks did arrive eventually and i was pleased with them. I would certainly buy from them again.
The pick is mightier than the landlord!

Well, you haven't filled out your profile, so it is hard to say whether or not those picks are suitable. I assume if you are considering purchase from a .co.uk website you are likely in the UK, in which case, yes, buy the largest slim line (or Euro) pick set that your budget will allow.

Hope this helps, happy picking!

Don't buy the largest set.. You only get lots of duplicates..
Buy a small set first and then if you get more interested on this hobby, then buy different sets/picks from different manufacturers..
That way you'll find out wich picks you like the most..

The 15 or 22 piece sets are the best place to start imo. Both sets have a good selection of picks but more importantly a good selection of tension tools.

Well, I'm thinking of going for a five piece set, I could buy more tension tools individually later?

Just that the 15 piece sets seem a bit excessive for starting out on and I fear it may overwhelm me slightly!

My main worry is that a five piece set will end up missing something that I'll /need/ or is that not likely to be the case?

There are conflicting opinions on this matter. I am of the opinion that, though you will likely settle on just a few picks that you commonly use, there is an advantage to having more in your arsenal. There are many, however, that feel that if you have a hook or two, a half diamond, and maybe a rake or two you are set. Admittedly those are the tools you'll use most, but if it is not a matter of budget, I'd say you're better off having more to choose from. You might just find that the bagota rake that is often shot down is your favorite on some locks, or that you just can't live without your W rake. You'll never know if you don't have the opportunity to try. If budget is a mojor factor then the 5 pc will be fine to get you started.
