Recommendations : Masterkeying and Small format IC books

Postby davidgjr » 4 Apr 2005 8:49

I am looking for some good books on these subjects. Can anyone recommend a few good ones. I just don't want to buy a useless book. I can master key, but want to know more about the nuts and bolts of it, so to speak. I haven't had to do much with IC locks. I would really like to get a book that explains it in detail for someone new to these locks. Thanks in advance for any help.

Books that you may find useful are:

"Interchangable Cores: Small Format" by William M. Lynk

Don O'Shall's excellent book: "Guide to Interchangable Core Cylinders".

There are other books on masterkeying, but gernerally any good course on locksmithing will cover the basics you will need.

Some software that will make the job easier is ProMaster 5 by WH Software and Masterking by HPC.

I will see if I can find anything else that could help you out.

You know...

Are there LARGE format interchangable cores? Or anything other than SFICs?

Yes indeed there are large format I-Cores. If I remember correctly, Don O'Shall covers them in his book. I recomend it quite highly.
