My Newest Project!!!!

Postby Hollywood » 1 Apr 2005 20:40

Wazzz Up Everyone,

I just thought that I would share a few pictures with you all of my newest project that I was working on...

Maybe get a Little Feedback from you all "Good, Bad & Indifferent" ;)

Also I'm looking for a Little advice from you all.

I am in the process of making a Picking Station if you will. Just so that I can get some good use from my tools.

If you look at the pictures you'll notice that on One side I only have 2 hole's cut. The advice that I'm looking for is "what type of different lock opening would you place in this area"

The opening's that I have now I would like to go with several different types of Deadbolt locks that I have On one side & Knobs for the Other side.

Maybe across the Top place some Hasps for padlocks & Combo's..

As you can see I'm not completed yet I still have to mortise out the Latches & "Paint" I also kept the same distance from the Bottom to the Top so that it can be kind-of universal..

But seriously!!!! What do you think?

All I have to say is it sure is a lover drilling through "MDF Plywood" with a hole saw.

i know what you mean about drilling thru that stuff with a hole saw. I started doing my picking station a few months ago and have been steadily adding new locks to it. I have yet to add the "U bolts" so that i can put the padlocks on it. but do have some nice other various kinds of locks - house door, cylinder, automotive, mortice, garage etc.

Have fun with what ever you decide for yours.

padlock hasp

Postby raimundo » 1 Apr 2005 20:51

You might try a padlock hasp, and then even a shrouded hasp of the type that discus locks are often in, so that you only see the upsidedown keyway and cannot access the area of the discus shackle. this presents problems in applying the tension lever, and to solve those problems, you will have to make custom tensors. The ones I make to solve this problem are the 90degree bend and the perpenticular twist in one single move, if it were an airplane, the path would be sort of from original heading straight, wing dip to one side into tight dive pull out upside down on a heading 90 degrees to the original. (dip left wing to dive, pull out upside down heading to the right of the original heading) Well that complicated it, but its actually simple. its the bend and twist in a single simple move. rather than the traditional bend then added twist.
