I read the howstuffworks article, and the MIT guide. I get the basic concept of a common lock now. Now to practice, what sohould i buy? should i get a model key to practice with the pick sets? Someone help me oout here.

get a basic set of picks 5or severn and give them a go dont spend a fourtune untill you can safly say you like it thats about the best advice you will get.
by the way search the FAQs eh :lol:

from what ive heard around practice locks are easier to pick than normal locks for some rease, so i would suggest getting a few standard locks. they are probably cheaper too. To start out i would suggest getting all or some of the following:
1.Masterlock 1 or 3
2.Kwikset deadbolt
3.a wafer tumbler lock like is used on jewelry cases
