pinning mat or Tray-

Does any one know of a good used one that can be had reasonable? I am seeing new ones go for like $25-30 for some lousy piece of rubberized plastic that is like 12" X 12". This is totally nuts to me. I am willing to buy one but not at that cost. Anybody selling one for like $12-$15-used is great.
Student of Locksmithing and banjo player, so I am always pickin and grinin!

Go to the automotive section in your favorite store, or maybe Autozone or some other similar place and look at the generic "pant saver" car mats.

Some of the various models have the same moulded pattern you are seeing in the pinning trays.

Good luck,

Good call...and if that's too expensive for you...go to your local hardware store and look for the rubberized matting used to line tool drawers. It's black (nice contrast for silver and brass colors) and somewhat sticky, and more importantly....cheap.

Recycle old mouse pads - upside down. If you want to get really cheap.

Cut a 1-1/2" hole in the middle to go over a lever set and you have a combination pinning mat and super slick Schlage rose removal gripper.

Opens pickle jars nice too. :)

Just getting cheaper and cheaper, eh? Here's my suggestion, then -- the belly of a consenting woman (replace with "man" as necessary). Just don't tickle or the pins will go every which way.

This is another person I definately want to go shopping with. It's amazing the things you can think of to do a given job.

Excellent advice Lockmistress!

How many of you flipped your mouse pad over after reading that? I did.
