Padlock Shims Not Working

Postby ThE_MasteR » 28 Apr 2005 7:25

Hello guys and gals,

I just ordered some shims, and I am trying to shim a Dudley padlock ( w/ the numbers 1 to 59 ) and the shimjust keeps bending. I am using the right radius shim. I am confuzzed, why aren't these working ?

Actually, the dudley locks do not succumb to shimming. If you read the thread on cracking a dudley you'll see some pictures I posted of the guts of one of these locks and you will understnad why. The mechanism is different from the locking ball that is mentioned in the above thread, but the effect is similar.

Master combination padlocks are just about the most easy padlock to shim.

They seem to have a bigger space between the shackle and the hull, so I figured it was going to be easier
