Why Does Same Lock Seems Easy One Time And Hard The Next?

I have a lockwood 120/40 and i can pick it in about 5 seconds including getting my tools in the lock and all i do is slide to the back and pick the last pin and it opens, But that is probably just because its not a high-low configuration.

I kept picking this brinks shrouded padlock, because I liked setting the three spool pins that gave really good feedback, must have picked it a hundred times, and graphite lube came out on the pick shaft, so I was wiping them on napkins, then one day it got difficult, and the feel was all gone, so I put a drop (tiny drop) of three in one oil, (light machine oil) in, and it all came back, but now even more graphite was comeing out in its oily form. But at least I got the feel back.
