Security pins and pick guns

How well do pick guns work on security pins (i.e. serrated, spool, mushroom). I'm thinking that in principle it should work the same, but with less probability, and you probably have to apply less tension. Is this correct? I don't have any locks with security pins so I can't try this out for myself.

Pick guns work okay against security pins. Profile/rocker picks nullify them completely. I would go that route when learning to bypass security pins.

You may find that a bouncing motion on the tension wrench when used in combination with the pick gun will work well. In an ideal situation you would apply no tension at all, snap the gun, and apply tension at precisely the moment when all driver pins have cleared the shear line. Since this can be a bit difficult to time, repeated snapping coupled with bouncing the wrnech means that you will at some point (usually no too long) hit that ideal situation.

If you try to apply constant tension while snapping the likelihood is that you will get the pins stuck on the edges of the security pins and not get the lock open.

Give it a try if you get the opportunity.
