Help!! I am a Marine stationed in Korea and am having no luck picking the local locks. I have played with the lock on my apartment and it is tough. It has 9 pins oriented horizontally. Four on the left and five on the right. The pins are staggered front to back, but on the same horizontal plane. It is a See or possibly MSee deadbolt. The lock is only pinned at the top, but the key is dimpled top and bottom so it is reversible. I hope I have made this as clear as possible. If necessary I can take pics of lock and key. I am curious if anyone knows any special tools or techniques for this type of lock. All I have right now are standard hooks and rakes. Thanks and Semper Fi.

Sounds like you've got some kind of dimple key lock/hybrid bi-lock... but your description has thrown me off a bit, apart from differences in pin designs dimple key locks are more or less the same, I've picked standard dimple pin locks, and the picks are especialy designed for these lock types, I would like to see a picture of the lock as well as the key if it's possible, and I'll take a picture of my picks and post it as I have'nt seen any decent foto's on the web...

It is a dimple pin lock, I didn't find that term until after I posted. I took some pictures, but they didn't turn out too good. I will take some better pics tomorrow with the macro. Oh yeah, how do I post images when I have them, I couldn't find it on the faqs. I would appreciate seeing the picks you have. I found one image of the Matador picks. Is that what you are referring to? Are yours purchased or home made?

Gday, there are dimple pin locks mentioned in h2k video where it says to get a blank cut deep dimples where your dimples are meant to be cover in tin foil and then you have impressions of where the dimples are on the lock.

There are pictures of a dimple key on the following thread. Of course my understanding of what a dimple lock could be totally off.

Also to post pictures you normally post to a website (your own) and then using the "img" buttons above put in the url. This is the only way I know of.

Mine were a freebie set from a locksmith supplier, they are the Souber picks designed to pick mul-t-lock pin in pin dimple key locks, the matador picks? are made by Grupo Vicuña and are only intended to work on standard dimple key locks NOT the pin in pin, knowing how to pick dimple key locks I realy can't see the matador set being very effective at all, but that's just my opinion as I have not used them...yet, I recieved an e-mail from Sñr.Jose luis garcia de vicuña, and he says "It depends on the professional only" I think that's his way of saying a bad labourer always blames his tools! but I don't want to spend nearly $200 finding out one of us is wrong! Foto#1 Matador pick set, #2&#3 Souber tools.

Chubby,
I sent you the pics and a brief explanation. Any details on how well those Souber picks work. Or, for that matter, HOW they work :)

The pictures aren't the best, but they are about the best I can do. The symbol on the key is washed out, but it is the same as on the inside face of the lock (M SEE). You can see nine dimples in the key. If you look at the keyway, you'll notice that there are only pins on the top (left and right). The left side has 5 pins and the right has 4. The key is reversible, so you can see how the pins are offset from each other. In the photo, the left side pin you can see is a bit closer to the camera than the right.
I just got the Brockhage set from lockpicks.com yesterday and 2 of the picks look like they may work similar to the Souber set. I have yet to get a key blank and try the foil tape method.
Thanks again and Semper Fi,
