Where to buy Cylinder springs?

I keep mangling up cylinder springs so I was wondering where I could buy some replacement ones.

I went into my local hardware shop and he said try using the springs from pens. :roll:

Surely there must be somewhere online I can buy a pack of a hundred?

Zammo, you need to specify the type of lock. Usually they come in a re-pinning kit and they sell different kits for different kinds of locks. Maybe a LP101 locksmith would be willing to sell you some directly (those pinning kits are not cheap).

Zammo, for questions like these it would help if we could see where you live, a local member may be able to help you,

SKS sell springs in packs, they will also sell no locksmith items to anyone so try them, you should be able to pop into aldriges or somwhere and get them over the counter as well,

You are doing somthing wrong if you keep damaging them, what is the process just before you break one? are you picking too heavily or is it just that bird that keeps messing up, if so chuck it away and you wont have problems with the era.

Yep, those are the right ones. .115 inch diameter is common for most locks that people here will normally come across.

This is a worldwide site, most of us uk lockies havent even seen some of the locks you have over there and on the same note just as you may have not come across some of our locks,

You cant generalise on what locks people have or parts needed for all locks dissucussed on here, or take the answer meant for someone else and state it correct,

Not having a go but i happen to know that the lock zammo is wanting them for are not that size (on the ones i have seen anyway) and are a little bigger, so no they are not the ones (or am i now generaliseing?)

I live in the UK, London to be precise.

I need springs for a Bird 5 Pin cylinder No. 555 H.H and a ERA 5 pin cylinder 863-31. They both have the same size springs.

I have mangled them by putting the plug in but not at an angle so the springs driop into the empty holes, this causes the plug to lock half in. The only way to get them out is to wrench the plug, magling the spring in the process. Hopefully I won't make this mistake again but in the mean time I have two cylinder locks and only 4 workable springs. :oops:

Someone had posted a link to SKS site but when I clicked it it said page under construction, it was probably an old link, so i'll try googling it. What is Aldriges?

why not scrap out some old or broken locks. collect the parts in a pill bottle.

No offence taken. I totally realise the problem. I am actually from the UK originally, I just live in the USA now.

Unfortunatly, zammo doesn't have any location in his profile so myself and Grudge had no way of knowing his location and we incorrectly gave the information for common cylinder locks in the US. Just giving the best possible advice with incomplete information.

As you point out, many locks have different pin diameters and lengths.

Zammo, SKS dont have a website, their web has said under construction since i started up!!
Tell me what you want and i can give you the order code but if you just ring them up and tell them what you want you dont need the codes, just make sure they know exactally what you want before you put the phone down or else you will end up with anything and everything except the items you want, and email works well with them as well.

Ok thanks. All I need is a bag of cylinder springs, however i'm not sure what amounts they sell them in, the smallest will be fine.
