Abus 65/40 bolt manipulation

Postby Taltan » 20 Aug 2005 8:39

I have this Abus 65/40 with 5 pins I guess. When I insert something thin into it, like a paperclip, I am able to go all the way into the back of the lock. If I turn the paper clip around I can feel the shackle move up and down as I turn it. Here is a visual representation of what I can feel inside of the lock:

Bad drawing, yes the pins are not to scale :P
Anyway.. It seems like there is a physical wall right after the pins, but I am able to go over it.
I have this image of bypassing padlocks, but the structure of the Abus 65/40 is somewhat different than that on the picture:

Can someone provide me with information of what I am feeling back there. I think it is the device that turns the shackle or something.
