is it possible to have keys cut from a lock? I have the core of a best padlock, and I'd like to get a key for it made.

Yes. Just take it to a locksmith. :)

If you simply want a key for practical uses, then indeed take it to a locksmith and have him cut a key for it.

You can do it yourself if you know the pinning of the lock and have a code cutter.

Or if you dont want to do any of the above, look into a technique called impressioning.
