Anyway that jackknife lock pick set, and similar things, (in my opinion) is really something to buy because you think it's cool, and not because you want the best tools to open locks. Separate picks are the best thing to learn on, because you get a much better feel feedback, and are not encumbered by the weight of the rest of the tool. I wouldn't advise this as your first pick set.

Buy it later when you want to impress people or feel cool. But again, you may not want to buy a pick tool whose main purpose is carrying around anyway. However innocent you may be, you will not want to have to explain this during a random police search.

I have that very pick set it's alright for simple locks and getting out some broken keys but other than that i wouldn't recomend it for learning or practicing with as has been said before it is too heavy and cumbersome to get any real feeling from it.

heaslip: That pickset is fine to start with, but personaly I'd buy the set of 9, beacause it costs very little more, but gives you a deforest pick, a small hook, a sawtooth rake, which are fun to use... I like it most because it gives you a twist-flex tension wrench in addition which I find nice to use.

But that set will do you fine
