High tech picks......or computer generated?

Postby Knows-Picker » 23 Jan 2006 10:03

ok, I know you guys have used about EVERY F***ing picks known to man on here, so I was hoping that one of you who has used these, could help me out. I have just about every type of pick there is....I use southord, hpc, peterson, and homeade....however....I have been looking at these 2 sets......The thought of the unusual rake is very tempting...I am torn between the stainless steel computer generated picks found here.......http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... 90.....and the high tech spring steel picks here...........http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?Page ... ID=32....I think that the computer generated picks would last longer(stainless has always been my preference over sping steel)..however, I think that the profile on the high tech looks as though it would open more locks quicker.......Has anyone used both of these sets? or if not, maybe if someone who has used at least one set could post a review of them, and then others will hopefully follow.....Then with a side by side comparision, I could make a better decision.....I only allow myself one major pick purchase a month...and don't want to be dissapointed....Thanx so much in advance to everyone who helps.......Let me get some honest feedback from you, and I will do the same on any "rate these" that you post....So lets get it started....

I litterally have over 200 locks right now...as I said,I have just about everything you could want, but was interested in the computer/high-tech pics.....A falle set? what is that? anyways....I have over 150 regular picks of every make you can think of.....but no computer or other unusual rakes.....Locks aren't a problem...just what do you guys think of the picks?

They're not rakes buddy, they're called "rockers." You're supposed to life all the pins at once to the shear line. If one pick doesn't work, try another. There's a total of 32 possible "keys" on the majestic set. They're worth having as it's yet another method you can use to bypass pin tumblers. I don't regret buying them at all.

ok, so they are rockers...I assure you that you can rake with them...as the only way that I even know about them is a friend of mine that used them to rake....YES RAKE!!!!!!......the buffalo high security lock......(some people have to come off so condecending.....does it make you feel good?)
Regardless of how you want to classify them....I just want to know how well they work on a variety of locks.....I have seen them work...I know that they do...but I want to know what they are good for, what they aren't....are they quicker (than the high tech) or what...I just want a side by side comparison, with out the sarcastic "buddy" or "sport"...thanx for anyone who reads this and decides to be a civil person...and not a "flame magnet"....because I have some choice things to say right now....................Maybe I am taking it the wrong way...if so that I am sorry, if not...then FUQ....LOL.....
PS.... A rake is any pick that you can use with an "in and out" motion...there for......a diamond...or a hook..could be considered a rake......as well as the "rocker" if used in a raking manor....can be a rake.

too be fair i think goons reply was civil

the qustion your asking is like how long's a piece of string?
how well any pick works is down to the skill of the user,or
which pick works for the style of picking being used!!!

it's personal preference for each lockpicker what they think works well
and what does'nt,
poeple will only comment on what they have success with not what they
don't?

you sound like a competent picker but out of all your picks you have a favorite, this does'nt mean it's every one's cup of tea!

don't take it the wromg way you asked for comments!!!

that is what you got.

ok, this is getting redundant as hell......I apriciate everything that everyone has said......HOWEVER.....no one is commenting on the ?...I am interested in the high tech picks VS the computer generated picks.....That is al lthat I am asking.....I appriciate everyones attempt to "educate" me or whatever.....However....it isn't nessesary....A little background on me...I am a Project manager for a global telecommunications company, I am now working in floridia...I have TONS of locks.....I have enough money so that I am not worrying about wasting my money...I just like to do one major purchase a month...I already have all my other items ordered, and now I am just trying to find out which would be better to complete my order...I know that it is a preference thing...I really do understand that...What I am hoping for, is that somebody who has used both sets, or has a lot of experience w/ one set. Please post a review of how they preformed...Strengths, weakness, what locks fell open, what didn't..that type of thing....I have enough locks...I have almost every type of pick/tool available....multiple electric pics...multiple mechanical picks...MANY MANY MANY multiple hand picks, and a virtual cornicopia of homeade picks.....I don't need to buy more locks...and I don't want to hear about what a waste it is to have alot of picks...I don't care about it "wasting" money....I just want to know which set is better...I have never had such a hard time with a simple request....Digital blue...you have alot of really good things to say about everything on this site...maybe if you could give me your insight...that would help out greatly.....And by the way...to show that I am not a complete leech on this site, if you could pm me and tell me how to contribute to the site, thaty would be great too. Thank you for anyone who READS this and then post accordingly...to anyone else that continues to give unwanted advise.....have your people call my people, and then we wont do lunch.

Well if money is no problem, why not buy both? If you only make one big order a month, shut your eyes, point at 1 of the names on the screen, buy that one month then the next get the other? Just seems the most logical to me...

By the way, you asked what Falle-safe picks were, they're a pickset mostly made up of hooks and feelers, thought upon very highly by most pickers.

Mr Picker,

I think you may have the wrong idea about this site. The basic premise is to share information and ideas, and if you pick up a little education on the site (or share some) great!

Illusion was correct, SFGOON was being very polite to you. None of us are aware of your 'extensive' background, but when he offers a piece of advice regarding terminology, you get your back up.

If you read through the 'GOON's previous posts (and everybody elses) you will see that the use of the word's 'Buddy', 'Sport' and whatever else are not condescending, and are actually friendly.

You came back at GOON very quickly, and there are only 8 hours between your first and last posts. Given this is a worlwide site, perhaps you should wait for some replies.

I hesitate to offer you some more 'unwanted advice', but I would suggest taking it easy in the future, or you may find your questions unanswered.

Regards,

N.

Knows picker i think you need to calm down a bit and stop acting like a demanding child, goon gave a very sound piece of advice when he said they were rockers. Sure you can use them as a rake but whats the point when that is not what were designed for ? If you want help try helping yourself by searching for computer generated picks, ive made a couple of posts on them already.
Ok so you have lots of locks and lock picks but im sure most would agree by not having heard of falle picks or john falle himself you have a lot to learn as he has probably made a decoder or pick for most locks you have............

ok, look...there is really no reason for the public execution here......Where I am from, sport, or buddy...in that context..would be condecending...I prefaced it by saying that if I was taking it wrong, then I was sorry....obviously I was.....However...Put yourself in my place...I asked a ? and got comments about what a waste it would be and buy more locks....I didn't ask for that kind of advice, and I realize that people will say what they want, there is no problem with that...but on the same note don't fault me for doing the same thing....I never said that I have this huge EXTENSIVE background........I don't...I pick locks as a hobby...I am not a locksmith....just a hobbiest....I have been doing it for about 7 years now....Just because I am new to this site, doesn't make me a noob, however...it also doesn't mean that because I have been doing it for some time that I claim to know everything....I don't...If I did then I wouldn't have to ask a ? like which set do you think is best.......so........All this being said, I am not trying to be a jerk, but please don't talk to me like a petulant child. The responses I got where the same that you would give a kid....ie..which is better..a sugar cookie or a chocolate chip cookie?...and the reply was........DON'T EAT COOKIES THEY WILL SPOIL YOUR APPETITE!!!.......Ok so not the exact same thing but you get my point...if you think that the picks are a waste of time, then fine...I understand that everyone has their own opinion....however I don't think the subject was" High tech picks and computer generated picks..are they a waste of time?" I don't mean to sound like " a demanding child" but I don't want to be talked to like a child either....your opinions are all welcome, but please don't lecture, and I will promise to do the same....I will also promise to only make posts or replys that are relevant to the subject at hand......I hope that I can count on the same from the rest of you....In closing.....I AM SORRY IF I UPSET ANYONE OR HURT ANYONES FEELING.... not trying to make ememys...just would like it if My posts where treated w/ the same respect that everyone elses are...Thanx for the time to read this, and lets let bygones be bygones......(and any comments on which is better....comp. vs. high tech are still sought after.)
I hear what you are saying.....that doesn't mean I agree with you....Just that I am nodding my head to placate you and silence your futile attempts to win the argument.

Cool! :D

Take a deep breath man, you're gonna be okay!

Go with the Majestics, they better because there's more of them so they open more locks.

As for your rants -TLDR
