Question

Postby bervadi » 17 Nov 2006 17:55

Hello group,

I just joined because I don’t know much about locks and I have a question. I have to find the brand of a door lock. The logo is an inscription of a standard (Yale) key, with horizontal U-shaped lines under it. Any suggestions? I tried Google to find brand logo’s, but this wasn’t a success.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know, maybe someone else does, but a picture would do wonders if you can get one. What is the lock on?

PS: if you plan on staying, fill in your location on your profile.

I'm curious why you need to know the brand... If it has a yale key, might it be a yale? If not, pictures would be useful (even if you do it in MS paint).

Question

Thank you guys,

I’ m reviewing an 8 year old criminal “cold case” and the cylinder of the lock is now one of EVVE . To do some test, it would be nice to reconstruct the original state of the lock. I know, if the cylinder fits, the lock will work fine. The problem is; some prosecutors argue that there could be a difference. I do have a picture of it, but I don’t manage it to upload it in the message.
I was talking about a (Yale) key, because it is – as far as I know – the most classic key.

Are you sure its not EVVA?

That sounds cool, running tests on an 8 year old cold case.

Best of luck!

If it helps at all, Han Fey has written a beautiful paper exploring the inner workings of two of the EVVA lock types.

You can find it here: http://www.toool.nl/cutaway1.pdf

Can you get a better picture. I'd say this isn't really legible.
