I am trying to open this lock that saids Corbin Russwin and I am having trouble picking it. It's one of those locks that on from the inside of the room, there is a bar and you just push the bar to open it and from the outside there is no handle. any help or knowledge on this type of lock?

What kind of door is it mounted on?

Well im not sure if this will work for you (becuz i dont know what kinda door your working) but this has usually worked for me... but can you use something to push the bolt back into the housing? :?
This should work if it's the kind of door im thinking of. I usually use the blade on my swiss army knife for this little manuever.

I wonder if this is an 'emergency exit' type of device. One that sounds a bell if you use it. They normally have only one keyway ( on the inside ) that is used as a bypass. This makes sense in the fact that there is no keyway on the outside of the door.

Actually, they're pretty common around here on just usual exits. The people who lock up lock all the doors on the inside and then exit out of one main door and lock THAT one from the outside. Similar situation, only it's BEST I-Cores.

Checked this out at work today. From the outside if you push the bolt back in while the door is armed it does not set off the alarm. We however have a piece of steel that covers the seam between the door and the frame to prevent this from being exploited. Not to mention the motion detector which would is aimed right at the door.

Wow, the lock itself is connected to the alarm? Like im trying to pick one of the classrooms at my school for a senior prank and yea, there are 3 motion detectors. but i could go in there early and just turn those babies around. but i didnt know the door itself is connected to the alarm.

Three words - VERY... BAD... IDEA...
Do you realize that tampering with the lock at your school is at minimum Possession of Burglary Tools, and at maximum (if you go to a public school) Tampering with Government Property - generally a state felony. And believe me, state schools have no problem throwing people in jail. Point of advice - get someone to give you a key, unless you get real good at picking the Corbin Russwins they have on prison cells.

besides, if you announced the prank to another teacher, surely they'd get you a key ;)

if its a good enough idea.

Very bad idea, by first moving motion detectors it now becomes vandalism, also you can get tagged for 1 class higher offense because that would prove it was premeditated. In general there are much better ways to get into a school to commit a prank. One of which being just making sure one of hte doors doesn't get locked properly. Better to get in legally though.

Yeah, we could generally get teachers to give us keys, or security guards to let us in.

Oh-ho. Not only that, but if your caught (which you'll most likely be) by having picks, the police will implicate that you had intention to steal, and that my friend jumps you up to a felony. :(

By the way, by committing attempting to commit this act, you give the hobby-loving pickers of this community a bad name and rep. Not only would you screw yourself if you are caught, you would screw the rest of us on this board and information trading would become tighter.
