Depends on what your dad says :P

Check the FAQs Theres a thread, I think its in the FAQs, with lockies answeribng lots of questions on daily buisness ect that might answer several questions you have/will later think to ask.

It will take money to do the course and then theres equipment, and other expenses associated with starting up a buisness.

pick locks
fiting locks
safe cracking
opening cars

Regarding the list of things you wish to do I can't remember off the top of my head but the equipment needed for all of those will cost An arm and a leg, possibly a pound of flesh as well. I know this is a little vague but if you searchyou should be able to dig up better facts and figures I;'m writing this from memory of such posts. Toomush2drink posted prices I believe of what it would cost to start up in different feilds.

Unless you won the lotto or your parents are very generous you will most loikely have to start small and build up. It would be a good Idea to get a job for a year or two to save up money to help start a buisness and support yourself.

Apprenticeships are very rare, you may have to consider working as I mentioned in a unrelatedfeild for a year or two to save up some money. While unrelated there are several profesions that may provide experience and skills useful to you later. While yu work you could attend the courses and practicethe skills so when you decide to set up trading you are confident and capable.

Wich one out of them makes the most money.a#Am asking that because if I start with the one wich makes the most then itll be quicker to get the money to start other courses :)

Yes the top 3 are tension wrenches, the ones with a twist you will find easier to bend so that means they are for putting a lighter tension on,

The picks will be fine as long as they fit in the locks you have as in the usa they have differant picks which are slightly bigger, you should still be able to use them but may struggle with the tighter keyways,

Your first pick is a half dimound and you will find that useful for single pin picking or single pin raking, the 5th one along (from the left) is a snowman pick and you will find it most useful on double sided wafer locks and useing it as a rake (garage door 't' handles 2 sec's!), the second and third from the right are snakes and you will find more on these by searching the site and which locks they work well on but for me i just use them as an alternitive rake or turn them upside down and use them for 1-2 pin picking, i cant tell what the outer right one is but i suspect its an extractor, the 3rd from the left could be a small half dimound or an extractor, the other 2 are hooks which are useful for single pin picking.

You wont do either unless you are very very lucky or have lots and lots of money,

You might earn a very very small wage after a few years if you start up on your own and to work for a company you have to be trading first,

If you are meaning an apprenticship you will be very very very lucky and i would not pin my hopes on finding such a locksmithing golden goose,

Please do ask you have been advised and read the threads on starting up a locksmith business and the threads on getting an apprenticeship and the threads on getting warrant or nationals work, afterall you did say the first post would be your last question until you have read the site properly,

You will find the best option is to start up on your own and as a guide think of a figure of around 30k to start up as a basic locksmith from nothing to business.

If you want quick money i would go down the electrician route especially as a lot of rules and regs came in this year creating more work for sparks. To be honest your dreaming if you think your going to make a load of money in locksmithing as so many people are doing the same thing as yourself but they have the money to fund it. Ispent at least 15 k setting up my business but thats not even a lot of money compared with the competion. Just think a big advert in the yellow pages is going to cost about 5k for one area maybe so now go and take a look in your local yellow pages and see how much competition there is. Sorry if have ruined your dream but i would rather give you a reality check before you waste a lot of time and money at this crucial time in your life. If you go down the electrician route you could then get into burglar alrms and access control systems which locksmiths do do.This way if it doesnt work out you have a very repsectable trade under your belt which will you options later on in life.

Toomush is right. I am a sparky, and make very good money at it. This allows me to have some extra cash to buy the locksmithing tools I have. My day job allows me to support the family, and enjoy my retirement job.
