Nah, I prefer the covert approach:
"Hi, what's your name?" (They've heard all the cheesy lines before.)
"Oh, that's nice..." (small talk)
"Hey, that's a nice ring/bracelet you have there, can I have a look?" *lifts hand up toward the light and checks palm for hair*

Either:
*Ka-ching!!*, "Can I buy you a drink?"...or,
"S'cuse me, my mates are leaving..."

:P

ummm.... right.... uuhhh.... hahahahaha

Well I've been taught how to search for hairy palms by the master it would seem... :)

I wonder how much more off-topic you can get... hairy palms

Do you call it a night if you get knocked back as a result of bald palms, or continue looking?

*pulls topic kicking and screaming back*

Still having a fair bit of difficulty - sometimes I can do it in a few seconds, sometimes ten minutes. I've tried all the tools in my kit now and have opened the lock with each of 'em. but it's been a random length of time for each tool.

When using a small diamond pick (or similar) I can push the pin down whilst applying tension. I know which pin locks first, second, third and forth. I can apply different types of tension. But when I push down on the pins, I don't feel any difference, but if I get it right, the cylinder twists just a tiny bit more round...

Of course your palms scar!

Anyway, it sounds like you have a spool in there somewhere. When you get it just right with the tension, it is opening nicely, but when you get it slightly wrong the anti-pick is stopping you.
