If it was all spools, no wonder it was impossible!! Don't feel too bad!

I have five or six cheap no-name mortice cylinders with all spool pins. The trick is raking the <censored> out of them using light torque. Takes about two minutes.

of the locks I have that i put spools in to practice on, i can never pin them well with all spools. Although i can usually pick it, the key doesnt exactly go in smoothly:( .

The trick is to use one straight pin, and the rest spools. The only time you seem to be able to use all spools is where the lock has a strong return spring which holds the plug in the right position for inserting the key. Some Abus padlocks have all spools, but Abus locks with no return spring or weaker springs tend to have one straight pin fitted.

One particularly nasty trick that can be used is with serrated pins, in that they are the only type of security pin that you can fill every single chamber with and not need a normal pin to prevent binding (or jamming or whatever you want to call it), so what you can do is what american lock does and use all serrated key pins and a mix of serrated drivers and serrated spool drivers (yes, they do exist) .

Something even worse I read about in LSS is the case of people using all serrated key pins and drivers and then threading (essentially serrating) the bores in the plug
