My book on hgh security locks

Postby greyman » 23 Jul 2006 17:54

Hey, you guys are not going to believe this :o

I have got a publishing contract for my book! I am in the middle of sorting out the details, but the scoop is that the publisher is aiming at a launch date in 2nd quarter 2007. I have a fair bit of work to do to get it all patched up by around October. I'll try to post a bit more info as things sort themselves out.

Nice one, are we all having a mention in it for our help and all the posts youve put up about it?

Will we get a special discount?

Shrub

There are quite a few acknowledgements to specific people and organisations. However, as with most books, you have to settle for a "too numerous to mention" disclaimer since there really are just too many people who have provided helpful info. I have put in a plug for LP101 if you're worrying about that :)

On the second point: I can't promise any discounts - I'm just the author. I'd like to be able to get a few free copies, especially for a few people who have helped a lot, but I get the impression that you don't get anything for free from a publisher - it's all got to be paid for somehow.

Nah i wasnt worrying just commenting,

I know what you mean by nothings free in this world, from past experiance the autor gets a box of books if they ask before sale, they can then distobute those to whom they want usually contributors but whether they are apid for or a fee taken from future sales i do not know,

The things you should be worrying about now are obviously where they wil be sold and who by, is it a free for all of locksmiths only? will it be somthing that whsmiths sell or an online lockpicking shop?

Im sure youve already got this all covered,

Thanks for the interest. Here is a precis of what I said in the advanced forum:

The manuscript was submitted in December 2006 to Elsevier. In February I received what is called the copyedited version of the manuscipt, which is basically a print out of the entire work with typesetting marks and corrections written all over it. It took me a few weeks to sort through all of this.

The next phase, which will be the last for me, is around June when I get to check through the typeset proofs of the book. No precise publication date yet, but they are telling me around November in the U.S.

Thanks again to the many LP101 people who have, either directly or indirectly, helped me out with various bits of information to make this book as complete as it can be.

Cheers
