you could just buy a hook , half diamond and a rake for a 1.50 a piece. you would just have to check the shipping to see if it was worth it. if you buy them from one of the places we get 10% off it might work out. that way you have three of the basic picks and when you make your own you will have something to compare them to.

Making picks is never a bad idea if you've got the tools. You WILL need a dremel type rotary tool and a bunch of bits that you can use a few times toss out and get new ones. cutting metal is no easy task for the bits, they wear down and get ruts in them from my experiences pretty fast. You can find some pick templates here

and i would suggest using hacksaw blades. Very cheap, decently strong and you can get 2 picks out of each with a nice curved edge and even a hole to put them on a string or chain so you dont lose em. Like i always say when people are gonna make picks... WEAR EYE PROTECTION this cant be stressed enough. Another suggestion i would have would be to use heat shrink around the handles. hacksaw blades are super thin and begin to hurt after picking for a long time... GOod luck and remember the search feature!

Yeah I watched that video last night and he was talking about using a hacksaw blade also, except he preferred making three picks out of a blade. Buying one online as a template wouldnt be a bad idea either, ill look into that.

Thanks for all the help guys. Good site, good members. A lot of sites like this I get things like n00B USE THE SEARCH FEATURE THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN ASKED NOOB NOOB NOOB. Even though i used the search feature and didnt find anything. :P
