just to elaborate on what UWSDWF said, even locks made in the same batch will have different properties. maybe they changed the drill bit used to drill the holes in the lock mid-production, maybe one lock fit into the drill jig slightly different then the next, you will never, and can never predict the picking order or the difficulty of picking a lock at first glance. nor can you say 100% that one lock with be harder or easier then the next.
for instance, a HARD kwikset can be more difficult to pick then an easy schlage.... even though schlage is generally considered a higher quality lock. it really depends on the key bitting, security features, and manufacturing defects.
american locks generally have very tight tolerences (few manufacturing defects), generally fairly difficult key bittings (not to mention many have 6 pins), and loads of serrated and spoorated drivers and serrated key pins. all that combined makes a very difficult lock to pick.
