wouldn't turning the lock upside down make the pin fall back to where it should be?

Assuming you're talking about the MK pin, spring pressure upon the driver would probably hold it in the new hole in the plug.

Ok... just to make sure we're all on the same page I made a little scetch of what I have in mind:

The one problem that I think someone could see with this would be A) getting the key so it didn't interfere with the 6th pin and B) Getting it unlocked once some idiot tries to pick it.

Well, as far as getting the key to not interfere with the 6th pin I pet you could use the slope on the end of the key to hold the 5th pin (since it's such a low cut), so it would'nt need to touch the 6th pin.

And for getting it unlocked, as someone here mentioned, you could go to the other side of the door, pull it out and tip it upside down. That's simple enough... I think i'm actually gunna try to make this. :D

That is the best way to learn. As I understand what you describe, I have my doubts, and it is good that you recognize that you have design issues to work out. Good luck, and keep us posted.

looking at his picture though, there is no spring. so what controls where the pin is by default?

Also, if the 6 th pin is at the shear line wouldn't it already be set
once it binds when someone is picking it pin at a time??

Sorry, I don't see how this would work except by accident. Maybe
Im not understanding tho.

I think I fixed my problem, so the pick should be below though I don't know what size it will be.

I think someone stole your idea, but they put it at the front of the lock not the back, and called it Kaba Peaks.

what about those deep as hell locks that they use to store the munitions on the ship with? If you've seen those keys, you know what i'm talking about. Any U.S. sailors know what i'm talking about?
Why don't I get invited to any awesome eviction parties?

I know this post is really old but I just though I would post this incase future generations read the older posts.

There is at least one more problem that is obvious to me if this lock were to be patened and sold on a large scale, and essentially it is the reason we all come to this site.

Locks are able to be picked for one reason and one reason only.(MIT handbook 101) the pin holes have a certain degree of mis-alighnment when drilled at the factory and even if all other problems are eventually resolved(which seems possible reading over them) there is still no garuntee(though it is likely) that the 6th pin with set at all until very last rendering the security feature complely useles.

*I really dont wanna be flammed for ressurecting such an old post so if a mod is reading this please move it to the back or something it is linked to from a different poular post.
