The Nickel material alloyed into Stainless Steel is very gummy and sticks to the cutting tool. Causing it to overheat in addition to the hardness of the alloy. Normally you would adjust the speed of the cutter, but you cant do this on a key machine. Or can you?
Why not just make the minimum cuts with your duplicator to get your spacing then use a file and your dial caliper to get the depths close, then clean up the filed cuts with your Ti faced, or Carbide cutting wheel? How many do you have to cut anyway?

If it is a dozen or more, you may have not have found a good bargain after all. Time = Money.

Key machines use an induction motor. You can get a plug-in VFD drive to change the speed of the motor as you please ;)

what's the difference between that and A1145L? Just the fact that it's steel?

Yep, but it's of great consequences. It looks very much like a nickel plated brass blank, but it will destroy the machine cutter if unknowingly cut on a standard cutter.

Steel blanks are common for safe deposit box keys, but I think this is about the only stainless steel key blank for pin and tumbler locks.
