Actually, the US Army learned these techniques from the Fins in WWII and has kept that word for the sled ever since.

itsw also likely that one of the pins you believe is 'set' at shearline is actually pushed past the shearline and the bottom pin is binding from heavy tension thus taking all the pressure while the pin you cant set is not being affected at all by the tension.
