I really monitor whom I talk about my hobby with. I told my closest friends and people who know me and know that I am not the type of person who would break into somewhere. I have told my siblings, though I haven't told my parents. I don't know how they would handle it, though, to be quite honest, they would probably be fine with it. I carry around a reusable shopping bag which I have a whole bunch of my crap in including my lock collection. I have taken it to school so that I could use the other stuff in the bag, and I have had some of my friends who tried to move the bag ask me "This thing weighs a ton. What the HECK do you have in here?" Depending on how close they are, I might tell them either "just my stuff" or I might tell them that I have my locks in there. If they didn't know I pick, they might look at me weird and ask what I was doing with locks. I have had some people ask if I break into other people's stuff. I explain that I only pick my own locks and not other people's. I think that just confuses some people, but I usually get across the point that it's just a hobby of mine and not anything that is criminal or anything. But I would indeed say that picking has a really bad rap.
