I have a Master #5 that I pick at now and then. I get it opened and then when I attempt to pick it open again, no go. I just put it down and go do something else. Yep, I have good and bad days too!
I don't work, I participate.

There are some places where that phone just has to be turned off. Weddings, funerals, and other such occasions. Its just not right having a phone ring at a time like that.
I am sure that your wife understands, otherwise you would have heard it by now.

Life on the road it sure is, did a job last night with a 160 mile round trip all for peanuts just cause i want the guy to give me more work. Looking at the satnav but need something easily removable so the the thieving little bas**** dont nick it when im in an estate on a job.
Takes over your life but i love it as there is always a new challenge and always keeping your wits about you as a newbie to the trade.
Rockford if your struggling to pick it in front of the customer praise them for having such good locks fitted even if they arent, an ego massage seems to work most times and makes them feel good

Toomush - One of the important lessons I've learned (even before taking up this trade), is to appear confident in front of a customer. They must believe you are capable of achieving whatever the task is - even if you're turning your pants brown.
I hear what your saying about the mileage. I've had a couple of late night ventures out over the last couple of nights (just back from one), each a 2 hour round-trip, and as they were sub-contracted jobs - very little out of them. But as you say, you have to show willing in order to secure further work. Have you taken the plunge full-time now ?.

If your in europe TomTom is the only piece of GPS and Navigation software/hardware worth a . Stateside you have much more options. It stems mainly from TomTom having the only reliable mapping software and from just great all around hardware.
You don't have to have a killer PDA, the PAlm Tungsten E or the IPAQ RX1715 is more then adequete, they cost @199.99 and 279.99 respectively. The nice part about the TomTom's is that for anywhere in the world you can get hte right map.

I have TomTom 3 on my Toshiba PDA. You don't really need a fast PDA - Mine is a 206Mhz ARM processor - one of the older ones and it runs the software fine.
The price of GPS overall, PDAs, software and peripherals has fallen massively over the last year or so.
