What lock should I get for my room? (College Student)

No. A product was made a few years ago, that sat on the latch of a lockset as the door was closed...so that when the handle of the lock was turned from the outside/inside the latch would retract but the door would not open.

The product must be undone from inside, so it cant be used to lock externally.

You could of course just use a door wedge to prevent entry if you are home.

I'm hoping thats the interior door to your room inside the apartment and not the primary entrance from the outside.
If it is the primary entrance then its a whole other matter.

As others have said that is just a residential privacy lock as would be used on a bathrrom in your home.

Check you local lockshop or wally world for a "travel" lock which hooks in the strike as mentioned earlier in the post.
Cheap and will keep the door shut while your in the room.

or a Master 265 barricader bar which slips under the knob and grips the floor. Either would be able to be used without modifiying anything that is there now. Try masterlock.com under residential for more info
