Holding the pick correctly

You know, I agree with you in principle, but sometimes wonder if certain positions are more likely to induce problems like carpel tunnel. One of the reasons I'm trying to train myself out of my odd "ham-fist" grip is because it is easy to get lazy and pick too much with your wrist. After a long session of picking, it's not uncommon at all for my wrist to be a bit sore the next day, which can't be a good thing.

I guess what I'm saying is that a more "pen" grip is probably preferable if you have the choice.

The way I was tough was to use your thumb on the side of the pick , index finger on the top of the pick , and the fingertip of the middle finger against the face of the cylinder. That is for European cylinders , with the pin stack at the bottom of the cylinder.
