What does that mean?

Does that mean the keys are NOT the problem? Does it mean my technique? If I get really good is it matter of skill or luck? Is it just by chance the shear line matches and 1 out of 500 times is normal?

I still have not gotten the schlage and kwikset normal locks yet - the ones I bought at HD.

I wouldn't read much into this other than "Kwikset locks are junk". I can often open them with a single pull of a rake, which is what your "pull out" method is. So, this could be your method, your tools, or both. The Schalge is the only lock you have listed which should give even a total n00b any significant problems, even with a "hard" pinning. Listen to unlisted, and try SPP'ing. It's much more fun.

(disclaimer: I have never even tried to bump a lock)

still no go on the bump. I've tried it with a Brokhage Lockpick gun and a torsion (tension?) wrench. Got it quite quickly. Still trying to get the bump to work.
