did i ruin the lock?

Is it stuck turned that extra 25 degrees? Or can you turn it back to the original problem at 180 degrees?

It's possible that it's a cheap lock and when you picked it originally it had a shallow cut and the driver pin stayed with the key pin. If this happened (or if a driver pin got taken out when it was turned at a 180), you would have started to crank on a spring after "it" dropped into the keyway when the other driver pins did. And it wouldn't be so likely that you would have lifted it up enough to prevent it from being crushed and dragged between the cylinder and housing. This would likely cause the lock to completely seize at some random position. Sometimes you can fix this with a screwdriver and force. But using force is rarely the solution, and the lock may never be the same.

I'm not saying that this is what happened to your lock, it is only an idea.

Pictures would be best, but there may not be a good solution. Either way please take pictures before trying to force the lock.

And hopefully the lock isn't mounted to anything. This is a good example of why not to pick locks in use.

it smoothly goes to the 180° position, and i can easily push the drive pins back again and get it into that +25° angle again and again.

If its not clear on that picture, it is a very cheap phillips lock

if it freely goes from 180 to the +25 than it is not what I suggested but it may be where the actuator actually comes in contact with the rest of the door hardware and beginst to move the bolt... so forcing it a bit may do the trick... dont be excessive though

Nope, i just tried it and it wont move clockwise at all

and it freely goes from +25 TO 180° meaning it goes back from 205° to 180°... if i want to move it from 180° to 205° i have to push the drive pins back.

Have you tried feeling inside when its at 205... just to see if you can see anything odd. if a keypin feels odd or if somthing else is in the bottom of the keyway. just feel around in there a bit.

mmm, well i tried alike locks in my house and some open clock wise and others counter clock wise, could it be possible that im spinning it the wrong way?


UPDATE: oh come on!, now when i tried to get into the initital position from 180° to 0°, it got stuck at - 25° WTF!

i jiggled it around a bit, applied some force moved the pick etc, and it finally went just a measly extra 10° and it opened, im guessing its because of the poor construction of the lock and wooden door it was in why it didnt work, ill remove that lock (since i dont have the key) and use it for practice, thanks all for your help, if u are still interested i can take pics

wait.... i did get it open, i removed the lock but its still "jammed".... now i have the lock in my hands, what can i do?

mmmmmm... on a second thought i think i just missed the #1 suggested step for lock picking and its about oil... i think its just getting jammed by rust or something, ill update after i oil it up

Just as a nice piece of information, the keyway is open at the bottom because of the way they are produced. At the factory they will basically pull that keyway with a cutting tool that looks like from the end like the keyway. The keyway is cut progressively, meaning one cutter cuts maybe 1-2 mm depth and then the next one cuts more and so on until the whole keyway is cut to shape. Much like pulling a keyway in to a drive pulley. Broaching is the proper term for this operation

BTW it was not oiling, the lock is oiled and it still gets stuck, so its probably something up inside, so i will disassemble it, im going to read the FAQ about how to do it
