I agree- switch lock. (Think like an off/on low voltage switch, with a key instead of a switch)

Sorry wanted to add- re converting to use that lock - it would be much more economical to just buy a new tubular lock suited for that application.

Converting that would take lots of detailed milling, and custom one off parts.

Or, wire it up to low voltage, and use a electronic bolt (but that would require even more $$ than a basic mechanica tubular lock)

yea... that definitely makes sense..I can see how that would work now that you said that (it being used as an electrical switch). I didn't know exactly what kind of tubular lock it was when I ordered them on ebay.. but either way the locks still works for the purpose I got them for (picking and gutting) lol. Mostly just to learn more about how they work, keyed, pinned, the pieces in them, etc. etc. Plus you cant really beat the price.. it was like $15 total with shipping for 10 of them haha. I did end up buying 2 more later on that can actually be used on a desk drawer or something if I ever need to use one. but anyway, just wanted to clarify some of that up for everyone :D thanks for all the responses everybody!

easy pickings

Hi i have one with the same sort of electrical prongs but mine has a medeco on the face, its a switch for poker machines when you unlock the lock, a Light comes on in the attendants area or it can be used as an on/off switch for low voltage electronics. i imagine yours would have a similar use, especially considering the do not duplicate on the key.

Some lock manufacturers routinely stamp " Do Not Duplicate" on their tubular keys.
