Found this thread while searching around. I searched a little more and couldn't find anything about if this book/e-document is available yet. Is it? If so, please tell me how to go about obtaining a copy.

I should have known that sooner or later this would come back to bite me on the a$$.

The book/guide/tutorial is in pieces. It was never stitched together into a cohesive whole. Something new always kept getting added, formatting changed, and then I got sick and never touched it again.

After D_B's release of the LSI guide I am not sure its worth completing this book.

If there is enough interest, I may plow through the computer and see if I can find the pieces, and make a new one.

I have interest. As cool as this forum is, it's a bit tricky to navigate. A cohesive document would be a godsend, and would allow me (and many others, I'm sure) to spend more time reading and less time searching...and segregating signal from noise.

The "start here" stickies are great, but one thing leads to another, and another, and another....ad naseum/infinitum. So many interesting distractions. I feel like I need blinders sometimes.

Would be most willing to provide payment/donations/gratuities/bribes/assistance/profuse thanks/etc...

No pressure :twisted:

Well, check out the LSI guide for a good entertaining start.

This original thread was November of 2004, and now its November of 2006. I have a lot of stuff on this computer, so its entirely possible the original bits and pieces are still here.

I know that as I was working on it originally it just kept getting bigger and bigger. Several of the members at that time contributed information, pictures and other material. There was even an introductory section to lever locks contributed by one of our UK members.

The project continued to get bigger and bigger as each person had something they though should be covered.

At this stage, and give the number of sections it is currently in, I would have to say it will take some effort to finish this project.

I guess its time to fire up page maker, and see what I can do with this mess.

No holding your breath, I have a few irons in the fire getting my web site ready, and getting product in the pipe. I made a serious mistake before by not having enough product to cover orders, and I don't want to make that mistake again.

I will start looking at it all tomorrow though.

I know I will need a coffee maker in the shop now.

I'd be willing to pay good money for a high-quality, detailed, accurate book exclusively on high-security locks, and I have no doubt that I'm not the only one. I mean, even if someone just put together a really good ACCURATE 20-30 page e-book on 'How to Pick a Medeco' I'd probably be willing to pay 10 or 20 bucks for it. Something that's a couple hundred pages and comprehensively covers bypassing several of the better known high-security locks (Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Primus, Abloy classic/disklock) and has lots of good photos in it would be worth at least $50-70US I imagine (I'd pay that, no problem). I am talking about a pdf/ebook, I'm not saying that you should actually try to publish it in print (if I want a hard copy of it, I already own a good printer, thanks :wink:

).

Zeke79 and Romstar and anyone else who can consistently Medecos and Primuses etc. need to collaborate and put together as much good info and tricks & tips type of stuff as they can, it would be appreciated by many and definately worth a good amount of money per copy.

You know, even if you just did something that was 60-80 pages on 'How to Pick/Bypass Medeco, Primus, and Mul-T-Lock' that only covered those big 3, it would be really awesome and you could still probably get $40-50US for it...

Oh, and I'm not trying to appeal to your greed by talking about money here, but I certainly wouldn't expect people to be willing to put in a lot of time and effort for free to provide quality information about a subject for which quality accurate information is extremely rare and hard to get--like really accurate information on how to go about bypassing high-security locks. Now that we have an Advanced Forums buy/sell/trade area this seems quite doable....anyone else agree??

, I remember this thing. Don't stress yourself out about it too much Rom, we don't want you giving yourself another heart attack. It does seem kind of a waste to put all that time and effort into it to have it not materialize into anything though.

You should conscript some of the mods here to help you write and assemble that bloody thing, share the load, know what I mean?

I know he can, but is it really necessary to put together such a book Rom?

You can find the way any lock works thru google / our forums.

There are many books already out there.

There are countless number of locks and methods, and no book would have it all...

I say that it's a highly unnessary stressor. Why bother? Proper research or use of a search engine will do the trick.

Yeah, i guess it would be nice, but is it worth the time and stress at the moment?

I'm not going to work myself into another heart attack, try not to worry too much.

However, I did commit to this thing two years ago, and I failed to finish it.

Its going to take me some time to organize the thing, and I was doing all the layout in Pagemaker so that it would look like a real book.

There are some updates to be made, pieces to pull together, pictures to take over and a host of other things to make a coherent document.

I would like to include video, but that isn't practical for PDF documents. I want to be sure that the electronic version is readable by everyone.

If there is enough interest after the PDF version materializes, perhaps I will publish a short run of the thing as well.

I don't want to duplicate the 20 page booklets, and I don't want to make LSS either. So, without going too far overboard, I will start working on this again, and I hope that something finally comes of it.

The funny part is that you would think that I could whip something like that out in a few days based upon my posts, but the problem, if you have read my writing for a while is that I cover some of the same ground over again.

In a book, that isn't acceptable, and just looks like you are trying to fill pages. I want this to be something that is more advanced than the LSI guide, but still addresses both professional and hobbiest pickers while not becoming LSS.

Yep, two years later, and I should have expected it sooner or later. :wink:
