The Tubular lock in the Gatedepot is likely a Momentary action. Maintained would have a second slot to remove the key.
The keys inside can control the fans, lights, whatever is labled.
I used to be a Cook in Vegas over 30 years ago and had a Key that would take me from the Kitchen at the Lowest Level to th Top floor of the Hilton International, no one could stop me.
I have seen a Elevator hack? that supposedly will do the same thing by pressing your floor and the close button at the same time or something like that. If you went to Metacafe or Youtube and Type in "Elevator Hack" and I am sure it will show up. You do sound like you are more than just a writer?
