there is a relocker in the body of the lock which is activated when the back cover is removed it doesnt matter when the change key is turned as the outer wheel remains stationary when the key is inserted and if the cams are all aligned correctly the dial will turn and the wheels wont thats why i came up with my diagnosis i assumed it was locking with the key in and turned.
When picking starts to hurt take your finger out
