Though I'm sure OP has already received his mat, I wanted to share what I've been using.

Find a bar supply store, or man cave type store in your city and find a "bar spill mat".

The non branded ones go for a couple of bucks, 10, tops.

You need to be working with tweezers, but never have to worry about dropped pins wandering off etc.

If you want a good, durable and homemade pinning mat, then look no further than the "Ghetto Silicone Pinning Matt™".

To make a "Ghetto Silicone Pinning Matt™":

Materials: liquid silicone, cardboard box, knife, saran wrap.

1: Cut cardboard skin so the corrugations show
2: Wrap cardboard in saran wrap
3: Squirt silicone onto the cardboard wrapped with saran wrap
4: Make the surface level, trying not to get hairs in the silicone and taking out air bubbles
5. Wrap the whole thing with saran wrap and roll with something cylindrical, making sure there are no air bubbles
6. Let dry for recommended time
7. Done!

Nice work on that pinning mat. Is the purpose of the saran wrap to keep the silicone from sticking to the cardboard?

Yeah, and to keep those pesky cardboard fibres from sticking into the silicone. If you don't mind having some cardboard in the silicone then the saran wrap really isn't needed.

Good idea. Way to go for thinking outside the box.

Love the DIY Pinning mat idea.

May have to change up my mat selection.
