Cheers. I have seen a video from lock picking lawyer that says real world picking is unique and buy several of same brand so you dont get fixated on just one lock.

Hi

Since I see I was mention here I would like to add as many know I am the maker of the "Super Max" the "Original Schlage 7 Pin Practice Lock". Had it on ebay since 2013 so 3.5 yrs if we are keeping score. :D

But it has been improved many times and was designed and made for members here on this forum first and is still here and wanted to say thanks to all those that have supported my effort over the years hope it has helped most of you get better faster.

A few "Ultimate" copy cat coat tail riders "you know who they are" have road in and have been noted starting last year. One thing is certain when you have the best someone always wants to take someone's hard work (copy it) and claim it is theirs. It is very disgusting to say the least. But as they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But beware of imitations often times ends up not such a good deal. Mine are still manufactured in USA.

If anyone has any questions about my lock or my comments please private message me I am always here to help.

Thanks
Richard

I sell practice locks on Ebay as well. But Mr. Wizard's Super Max is the best anywhere. You will not go wrong with his locks.

Mr. Wizard, I proudly own one of your challenge locks and it has helped me progress ten fold. I want to recommend your practice lock to my picking friends and to new pickers over the internet but with all these other knock off Ultimate challenge locks floating around I don't know whats the real thing anymore. Who are the main imposters to avoid? I want to be sure I am making the correct recommendation and not sending someone to buy a knock off. Also, what is the BEST way to purchase the original Super Max 7 Pin Challenge Lock? The link I found on Ebay was expired.Thank you for clarifying! (This is not directed at jimu57 in any way :)

I don't ship internationally on ebay is true.
But if you want one anywhere in the world it is as easy as PM me.

There seems to be some confusion about how to get my lock after all this time I am surprised. I would like to make it clear that my Super Max 7 Pin Practice lock can ALWAYS be bought directly from me anytime here on the forum. It was made for members here.

If anyone wants one or has any questions it is as simple as private message me.
There are many that feel better about buying something with ebay protection that is why I put it on there too. But if not in USA you have to buy it directly from me on the forum.

Also I feel a need to also clarify as I have been asked so many times since last year about the knock offs especially one "Ultimate" one that felt it was ok to take every aspect of my lock copy it to appear the same change the Sargent keyway to Schlage and put it on their web page at the same exact price to further confuse people to think it is the same lock. Since then they have raised the price so mine is cheaper. Then have the guts to boast they have outdone themselves.

Someone who is known very well made a video promoting this knock off suggesting everyone buy it IMO knowing full well who's lock it is copying even saying he suggested they use this keyway and 2 sizes of security pins! Neither thought any thing about it until they seen mine. Ya they showed they have no respect for others hard work and reputation. I am not affiliated with these people and am disgusted so I needed to have this cleared this up.

I have been quiet above issue for a long long time but with all the questions in my PM box and that pop up in the forum asking me with a link is this your lock or web site or did you know they are knocking off your lock I need to say again if you don't get it here or my ebay link it is not mine.

Thanks for all those that have supported my effort to bring to the forum one of the best practices lock for the money over the last 3.5 years. Please support my original work not the knock offs they don't deserve it.

If this post is out of line or think it is improper I am sorry.

***If you don't see it called Super Max 7 Pin Practice Lock and is seen any place else other than this forum or my ebay link for your convenience it is NOT mine.***

Thanks for clearing that up Richard.

It's waay to easy to make a knockoff of your idea, and this one is particularly sleazy because practice locks are probably going to be purchased by beginners who don't know about the knockoffs.

I'm glad I know now, so I can recommend to others where to get this lock.

Re: Buying the Right Stuff

I get started in lock picking, again, at little less than 2 years ago after being in a car accident. I had some time on my hands and got to looking at videos on youtube. At the time I didnt know a bitting from a binder. I have learned a lot since then thanks to a lot of guys on here and all the info available online.

The first practice lock I bought unfortunately was not the Super Max. It was the copy that is a Sargent keyway. Got it from Ebay. The ultimate Sargent, I think is brass scrap now.

I got acquainted with a locksmith in CA that had over 100 ASSA 600 series cylinders from a retrofit job. I figure out how to make practice locks out of those, was able to get pins, etc., and sold them on Ebay. That is when I got acquainted with Bosnian Bill because he bought a couple of them and made a video to my surprise.

After that, I had access to nice used cylinders and some new ones and decided to make practice locks myself and sell them on Ebay with a mini pinning kit. At this time I didnt know about Mr WIzard or that Super Max. I did not intend to try and compete with him. That is not me. I did run across a few 7 pin cylinders that I did sell. But I stick with 5 and 6 pin cylinders. I run across odd ones that you dont see in practice locks like TrioVing, ASSA from deadbolts, a few dimple cylinders, Corbin, and things like that.

I had not intention of trying to copy or compete with Mr Wizard. If it came across like that, I want to apologize to him now. I have referred people to him that were looking for a 7 pin cylinder.

Since I started studying locks again since I was out of commission. I had whiplash and post concussive syndrome. That is after I had a stroke in 2008. So, locks was something that I was interested in and helped me recover from the the brain trauma I had seen. I have had help from locksmiths and guys in locksmith that knew much more than me. My intention is to use my abilities to help and give something back to the locksport community. I have made friends in the US that are interested in Locksport as well as guys in Hong Kong, UK, Germany, Russia, and all over.

I plan on continuing making practice locks. Trying to expand into euro style, dimple, etc.

To Mr. Wizard, you are still the man when it comes to the Super Max. The copies out there can't compete in quality.

I am sorry to hear about you car accident I didn't know about that. Good you are doing ok now, a head injury is s scary thing alright.

I am not pointing a finger at you at all. You are doing great work and expanding into euro cylinders is really good idea for giving back to the locksport community. :D

I think everyone can read between the lines who I am talking about.

When I made my practice lock I stayed away from anything out there and on purpose to not step on any toes. Chose the Schlage C keyway because it is a harder keyway and makes you a better picker faster than a wide open one. Chose 7 pin as it wasn't being offered as well. But these guys made an obvious effort to confuse new pickers by copying it including selling it for the same exact odd price I sell mine for to make it appear it is the same product. They have since raised the price because they are greedy or were advised this looks bad better change that. And for them to say "We have outdone ourselves" is laughable.

I will continue to offer my lock as long as someone still wants one and really do appreciate those that have supported me in this project to provide the best practice lock I can. I am always looking for a way to make it better and it has been improved many times since I started making it. :D

You have to pay Import Duty and Import Tax on anything you buy not in your country. I have no control over that. By just saying the shipping makes it near £100 kind of sounds like I over charge for shipping.

For the record I charge exactly what USPS cost not a penny more. I ship all over the world never a unhappy member and they all have to pay duty & Import taxes

Good Day
