Beautiful set of picks, Chunk. Excellently done! I'm new, but I'm really appreciating the artistry and quality I see here in people's homemade picks.

Archiebald.

I did think of putting grips on 'em but found I didn't need 'em. When I first started picking I used to hold the pick so tight my hand ached. Now I just relax and let the pick and tension tool do the work :)

junkyard

bring some coat hangers and some stiffer wires to the junkyard and you can practice auto bypass techniques there, perhaps even on doors that have the interior panels removed to give some insite into the problem, this is how new bypass tools are invented, and about picks from thin sticks of metal, consider making the handles by bending and twisting the handle stock of the metal, I like a 90degree twist, to present a flat grip surface to the fingers in an ergonomic way. I usually make the twist before cutting the pick on the metal, to avoid having to grip the thinner form of the pickshaft for the twisting and also because if the metal breaks, (leave sufficent room between the two pliers to form a twist, rather than just shear the metal from to much stretching) if it breaks bending, you do not want to have more work invested in the piece, so do bending and twisting first. if you have some metal that is damaged (scratched) in some way that you do not want to make picks from, you can use it to experiment with prototypes of handles, to see what works for you.

I've no real interest in "auto bypass" as such ! I have a key for my truck, as long as i keep up the payments :-)

But i like your idea for the handles, sounds interesting.

Thanks for the input all :-)

Good luck
