One problem is that when crooks mess with safes they often take the whole safe, and if their determined they'll figure it out. Also if this were commercial it wouldn't be long before the word hit the street which lock on the safe was legitimate.

they taking the wall with them too? this thing is built in as part of a concrete wall.

that was the point of simply putting the decoy on it. i'd also get the lever lock deep inside the door behind an inch of solid steel or something to stop drillers a bit

a little more info on the system.

all six of the locks must be unlocked to open the box.

all are keyed differently.

i also have thought of an electronic timing system that relocks the door if all locks aren't defeated in a set amount of time.

good ideas on the shielding to prevent drilling.

i'd hate to be the one who lost the keys to that!

i think in that case, C4 would be the fastest way into it!

you should find out how long it takes someone who's really good at picking to pick all the locks so that the timing circuit locks before they can get all the way around the 6 locks.

the circuit locks in under one minute, preventing even the best locksmith form opening the box.

as for the keys, i'm going to leave them in the hands of five of my friends, requiring all six to be present to open the box.

HRMMM....I wonder if servos would work for the auto locking mechanisim. Are you going to make an internal, external power source, or both?

If someone knew the system, they could pick all six locks but not open them right away. After picking them all, they could then open them rapidly as a final step, thus defeating the timer circuit.

Perhaps you could put a series of hinged cap over the locks, and have the opening of the first hinge activate the timer circuit.

i still think my idea is valid! you have it so that one lock must be opened in order for the next one to open. this would mean that all the locks must be opened fully, in order and would stop it being picked then all the locks opened together. im just not sure how you would go about making it :?

Obviously, something valuable is in this scenario-safe, so impression the first lock...then walk away.
Come back a few days later...
Using the first impressioned key, unlock the first lock, then impression the second lock...

and so on...

unless I've missed the concept here...

start devils advocate:

1" of steel can be drilled with crappy bits in less than 2 minutes
you will need good hardplate if you want a barrier.

you will want glass if you want to make it difficult

all six locks can be drilled and then opened all at once which would simulate a key.

end

you aren'ty going to be able to build anything tyhat cannot be dismantled

you can however make it take a very very long time for it to be dismanteled

So I go back to the idea of having hinged caps over the locks that trigger an alarm if the locks aren't all opened within a minute of flipping up the first cap.

My thought here is that we all know you can only slow someone down. If, however, they are slowed down sufficiently and an alarm is triggered, there would not be enough time to defeat security easures before the culprit was discovered.

great ideas,
and thanks for pointing out potenital cracks in the security.
so i've decided to amp up security measures a bit.
motion sensors inside and outside the vault, CCTV, and a silent alarm.
double sided deadbolts on the door leading into the safe room, with a similar autolocking device(any ideas on that one?).i'm thinking of something involving a minigun, but i think it's secure as it needs to be for my purposes.

i also think you would be better off modifying an existing floor/wall safe than you be building one from scxratch.

Start with a 30 minute rated tool resistant safe and go from there.

honeywell sells nice little 12/24 microswitches that you could use for oyur latch cover position sys
