Hi! I'm very new to this hobby and I wish to make a good purchase. I've read a lot of your post but I didn't find where to buy in Italy (or in Europe at least).
This is necessary in order to not being killed by the delivery expenses :D

Thanks a lot for your help!

Try the site google.com and search for "lock picks europe". I found many european shops on the first result page.

Hello guys!
Just starting to get into lock picking, and I was wondering if I could get a bit of an updated recommendation on what sets to look at for a novice/beginner?

Initially I was looking at the PXS-14 by Southord, but I've heard from a few people that for what it is that it is a bit expensive. But at the same time, the handles on them look extremely appealing.

The PIP-13 set looks very appealing, mainly because it looks like it would all fit neatly into the pack and they also seem to have little "Swiss army knife"-like handles on them.

Anyone who can shed some light and point me in the right direction?

Maybe I've found a shop in my city (Milan, Italy).
What do you think about this kit? https://shop.multipick.com/it/apertura- ... -pezzi-hpc

I think is the HPC Pip 15 (if I'm not wrong) ): 9 pieces for a reasonable price, imho

Hi everyone and hi cecca, I'm a beginner from Italy too :)
I'm starting with a Southord MPXS-11 set ordered from Amazon UK, whith shipping it's about 30 EUR...non the cheapest but not a price that kills you neither.

I found also on Ebay some nice repinnable practice cylinders with normal and spool pins, I'm waiting for one of them!

In the meanwhile I'm practicing with a couple of cheap locks :)

FYI, Amazon.es has many Southord sets which shipment to Italy could be potentially cheaper.

(although, even from Spain, I'm planning on buying my picks from ukbumpkeys because they have many other items I want)

I also just ordered the 14 piece from lockpickshop, it was 27.95 and i figured it could not hurt to get the 14 pieces.. Looked really good.. I cant wait to get it and start picking.

I have tried to wade though the 16ish pages. I am looking for a lock picking set for my husband for his birthday. Does anyone have a suggestion for a high quality set under $200?

I want to add that his Dad makes locks (he is no help in the process and will not give me any guidance) and I want a lock picking set that his Dad will say "wow, those are great. Way to go Mr. NotYourWife."

If it matters I am in the US.

I'm far from an expert but I don't think you could go wrong with these.

Excellent recommendation, that's what I would go with!

@Pipesmoker thank you! I will buy them ASAP. I started to look into sets but for someone who knows nothing it is overwhelming.

AS a beginner, I would have to agree with the guy who said spend less on fewer picks and more on locks to play on. After a lot of trial and error, I would say buy about 5 higher quality picks (like Peterson) and play with those. The common picks and a couple rakes. If you use them a few hours a day they are bound to break or get twisted with use.

After a while you figure what works for you and then maybe buy an expensive set with leather case.. more for show or to make you feel good.

For me, tension bars and turning devices have proven more difficult to buy. I just spent my money on a large assortment of different tension devices and hope they will improve my skill and learning curve.
