I think impossible is too strong of a word, perhaps extremely difficult.

Undercut blanks cant be copied with the ez machine for the obvious reasons, but as you say if in future it goes 3d then it will be no problem,
Im guessing the key duplicator uses white metal and in an alloy state at that (simular to the stuff lead minitures are made from),
It should copy any key your going to come accross to be honest but i dont know how robust the made keys are and am sure there not for perminent useage.
It could however use a chemical mxture that solidifies and isnt actually a 100% metal but ive not seen one to be sure.

Thinking about it you may be able to buy some of the cheapo lead minitures and smelt them down to experiment, im sure the melt point isnt that high on the material, it may work out cheaper.

I have seen pictures of some keys that have moving parts to defeat casting kits but they aren't at all common.

I would guess ____ = Everest blanks (that you can buy 50 at a time of on Ebay )
Well, if the key produced by the molding isn't sturdy enough (I do believe that it's supposed to be strong enough to be usable for at least a few times) and you have or have access to a Silca Quattro (that IS the one with the laser scanner, right?) then you just copy it with that....unless it's something the Quattro can't copy (which there aren't too many things, as I believe it does pin tumbler, sidebar, dimple, dimple telescoping, rotating disk, and laser track...).

No, there's actually a fairly common non-restricted blank that can be modified to function as a master blank for the pin tumber section of one of the key control ranges.

Ok, but what about the sidebar encoding?

Side bar locks have a series of cuts on the side of the key as well so there are basically 2 sets of mechs to pick, manipulate etc.
Stick around, have a good read, if you dont understand somthing type it into the search and read up on it, if that doesnt help ask one of us and well explain it to you (i hope) and soon you will be talking like we do (as in it sounds like we know what were talking about ) and puzzleing newbies yourself

Yes, but most of the time, those simple mechanical features can be defeated.

the problem isnt the language, the problem is that the language is really too technical...
