my favourite pick, the best tool for quick lockpicking....... The key!!!!
lol probably the rake, im pretty good at raking, and not verygod at doing it the hard way pin by pin..but i do like the hook and half diamond too
P.S. the best thing for picking locks: high tension, compact space explosives.
thats unpossible!!

Since I started picking locks, I've been keeping record of the types of locks picked and what picks I've used to breach them. So far, I've only managed to open most locks with one or more of the following: (All from the SouthOrd set)

Small Half Diamond Pick
C Rake (Snake Rake)
S Rake (Sawtooth Rake - only on rare occassions)
L Rake (Really works well when I'm frustrated and just NEED to pop the lock)
Ball Pick (Seems best on Master locks, with high clearance)

A second pick set is on its way to me, however, and contains a few more pieces. I'll let everyone know what I feel about those when I get the opportunity to pick some new locks with them =)

Most notably, I'm planning on experimenting with the SouthOrd "W" Rake; It just looks interesting to me, and I'm sure it can't be used in many types of locks.

I ordered a W-rake for fun a few months ago, to see how effective it would be. I have yet to find a keyway I can comfortably fit that pick in.

4. HPC standard hook.
5. Peterson standard hook(not their gem hook)
6. Peterson reach
7. Southord standard hook
8. Snake rake (std any manufacturer)
9. King and queen picks

I seem to work well with the short hook and the half diamond but I can't seem to find a good way to use the ball pick.
