This is getting wildly off topic, and i'll stop after this.

Looking only at your post count, I have no idea if you've made 332 posts about how to break into houses and how to force entry into safe-deposit boxes, or if you've made posts about furry bunnies is the general forum. But I can read your posts, I can see what you've said in the past. That's how to determine if someone is "respectable" or not. Whether they've made their posts because they're professional locksmiths or because they're professional cat burglars, is impossible to say. Always always be careful about extrapolating intention, and especialy be careful of extrapolating intention from a single number.

I'm still standing by what I said. I think that the less posts you have the less people on these forums are going to trust you because they cannot possibly know you. This is obviosly just my opinion, but I am entitled to it.

I think if you tried to blow the pack out with the torch you would wind up fusing things together and really making a mess.

maybe just cutting the back or sides up would be a better idea

See I disagree with that because I lurked for a long time before signing up because I was very contented with the information I was able to obtain without asking, by using the search button. I just in the last couple weeks made an account because I finally had some questions I wasn't able to find the answers for, and thus need an account to ask the quesitons.

But by your logic I should not be trusted because my intentions arent know. Now I have been actively posting a couple messages a day since I created an account but since I have not hit 50 my questions should not be answered or responded to? (I'm hoping I dont hit 50 messages when I post this cus that would be stupid.)

I'm sure most people would agree that the number of posts can be kinda irrelevent since some people will not post anything unless it is of value and as thus have less post.

Just my 2 cents.

i never said anything about your questions not getting answered or responded too, just not sensitive questions such as "how do I open this safe."

I agree with thertel here. I 've lurked for some time before posting. Either the question I had was answered or a response to a question was already given the way I would have given it, so no need to respond. Other than asking the same question ( showing I'm not familiar with the search function) or agreeing only to agree. To me that seems like post padding.

It would seem the quality of the posts would be more relevent than the quantity. There have been quite a few posts about impossible feats. Most of the people here familiar with locks and the materials we work with can tell when something can or cannot be done. Some of those posts have been called on. I know there are "joking" posts, and these are not the ones I'm speaking of. So why should the person with numerous BS posts and the like have more "credibility" than someone with only a handful of posts that are more helpful and obviously from experience.

just thought I'd pipe up here - havn't read this thread since it was one
page long because I'm not interested in opening safes with blowtorches
but since it's become as long as it has I throught that perhaps something
interesting was being talked about so I started reading.

It's not an issue of post count at all - it's an issue of trust and a
demonstration of willingness to contribute to the hobby - if I may take
PYRO1234321 as an example - 85 posts currently and when he released
his video he had far less posts than that - yet he is considered a highly
trusted even highly esteemed member of lp101 because of his contribution
to the community.

It's not so much "he's only got 3 posts he is therefore not yet trustable"
but rather "he has not yet contributed to the forums and is asking a
question that (makes refference to illegal stuff/could be better answered
on a metal working forum/could be answered with a click on the search
button/etc).

unfortunately because of the way the world works - most people will not
trust someone that they do not know and/or hasn't proved themselves
trustworthy somehow. and so a person with more posts is likely to be
more trusted (some exceptions exist) than people with less posts simply
beacuse it is easier to judge their character.

now the argument has been raised before "how do I contribute to the
forums with my limited knowledge except by telling newbies to "search"
because that's all I know at the moment?".

my answer to that one is - by finding a gap in your knowledge and asking
an inteligent question in an inteligent way, you can contribute to the forum
by creating a place where inteligent answers can be posted - thus
enriching the fora in general.

the only time when there will be no more questions to ask is when all
knowledge about locks and lockpicking has been placed on this forum in
an easily searchable manner - i.e. never. (particularly because recently
the discussion on what constitutes higher security locks has contributed to
less restricted discussion of these on the open forum.)

Mr.Ules (nothing personal against him) has posted three posts - all about
safe opening and all asking about methods that are not related
to "lockpicking" (which is the whole purpose for the existance of this
website). this is why I would be (even if I knew anything about opening
safes with blowtorches (which I dont)) reluctant to answer. it really is
beyond the scope of these forums.

Oh look! it's 2016!
