Thank you very much Gordon. Yeah, next step will be to get it open consistently and then I'll try swapping around. Got it open a second time, but not the third tonight. I'll call it a night before frustration creeps in again, and you know what - Hansa is the pride of my home town Bergen and I have got a couple of cold cans in the fridge, so that sounds like a really good idea! :D

Thanks! You're probably way better than me, so you'll get it open a lot faster. Haven't received the lock from you yet, hopefully it's not far away. With a little luck the package from me will arrive tomorrow, though more realistic you'll get it next week :)

Well they did say it would take 5 to 10 business days but I figured it would have been there by now... Please let me know when it shows up so I can stop worrying about it not getting there :?

I got the locks you sent in todays mail so that really kind of irks me at our post office since I sent the package the day before you did.

I cant wait to put this thing in the vice to see how hard it will be :D

If you are (as it appears) sending the package overseas, the shipping time does not include time spent in customs at the receiving country. You should be able to track the package, though.

Gordon,

It cost me $16.00 to ship the 2 locks but that was without tracking information. I asked for tracking but was told it would be a bit over double so I chose the hope and pray method of shipping via USPS..

I am still hopefull that the locks will show up soon and not be hung up in customs somewhere

The post office can still track it with the number from the customs form you had to fill out. ;)

Awesome! Hope you enjoy them. Please don't say that they're very easy...
As Gordon says, customs can be quite tedious over here.
Btw, I have been thinking about removing the "top plugs" of the bible and make threading for allen screws, for easier re-pinning. What would be the best way to do that? Drill them out or punch them into the bible?

Normally I drill them out so I don't run the risk of a long scrape inside the pin channel, but either way will work fine.

Drill a smal hole in plugs and put a screw in it and pull the screw out

Keyed the same does not mean it will pick the same.

I just got the second one picked in 19 minutes (its the one that you had taken the back ring off)
I would have gotten them in less time but I have severe fibromyalgia and have to constantly stop and put the lock in my other hand for a bit because my hands hurt so much. I would try it in my vise but I dont have a bench to put it directly in front of me so I have to lean sideways to do that... and that hurts more doing it that way.

I wish I was more talkative like BosnianBill, I would like to post a video but it would probably be the most boring one in history because of stopping, switching hands and not saying anything :D

Maybe I will do it anyway just to see how it goes and see if I can get myself to talk during it.

Happy picking!

14 & 19 minutes.. I'd say that's very good, it took me a month.. :) Post a video, I'd watch it! I played with the idea of making videos myself, but nobody likes to hear foreigners stutter english while picking badly.

But it's a fun lock to pick, don't you think? I've been playing a lot with it these past days. I managed to pick it in 5 minutes one time, but that must have been a luck shot cause normally it takes about 15 minutes. And it's always the same problem I end up with. Pin 3 - 7 are picked, and I'm left with 1 & 2 - one spool and one christmas tree. When I pick one the other falls, back and forth, until a couple of other fall as well. I still haven't figured out the right binding order it seems.

I hope your package arrives early next week, I have a few days of work. I've read a lot about those American locks, they look fun :)
In the meantime I found a "new" lock to play with. There's an old shack in my garden, with an old (30 years?) Trioving oval cylinder. I switched it out with one of these Biltema cylinders. I hope I should be able to pick it, guessing it's too old for security pins? But man, that keyway is so tight. Can barely get my slimline picks in there.

Here it is all apart after picking with the pick and tension wrench I used...

Image

Yeah, Americans sometimes are a pain to pick, Here is one I have been trying to pick for a while. I tried impressioning but I broke 2 keys doing it.

Image

Here are my American locks that I have added a 6th pin to all of them, and picked them. I then impressioned all 3 of them... I think the other one has something wrong with a spring or something.

Image

Here is my pick set... They are Sparrows but in a HPC case..

Image

Both the American and Schlage locks I sent are loaded up with regular pins but I send the serrated and spool pins with it in the same bidding so the key I impressioned for it will still work. The Schlage comes with extra home made security pins. I really hope they get through custom's and you get them still in good working order (I dont know if they open packages, Its the first time I have sent anything over seas)

Happy picking!
