hmmm miniguns, now you're talking!
i think 2 miniguns in the room, one on the ceiling, 1 on the floor, can move to any angle, a laser net throughout the room, motion sensors, pressure sensors on the floor, tempreature sensors in the room, retinal scans and voice scans to get into the room, CS gas vents, a small army to guard the building and the room and a nice lady to let you in if you do everything right
of course this may just be a bit heavy! you can never have too much security though
seems a little bit like mission impossible too, cant think why though....

im not sure how it would be done exactly, but could you modify the keys to work on the same basis as cars? so that even if the right key it put in, if the electrical circuits arent right the lock wont open? perhaps you could do it though your autolocking system, it could totally deadlock all the locks unless the right signal is sent to it and it unlocks the appropriate lock.

Assuming that the system is 12/24 VDC, a few sealed batteries should do the trick. Along with a charge contoller so the batteries are not overcharged. Just don't use car batteries.

I heard that the pharoh had a security system in his pyrimid that buried intruders under a huge rock and filled the tunnel they broke into with loose sand on a gravity system, not relying on some obviously unreliable electrical system, but it ultimately didn't work, cant remember if any toomrobbers got buried in the pharohs personal hole, but they got in anyway, and not that long after the whole thing was up and running, still you have to admire the attempt to secure it.

If it is the top of the range magnetic system then the answer is Zeiss-Ikon. All the others have, or are capable of picking / decoding. The Zeiss (or Evva) MCS system is not.

All ideas are good, and I'd like to add few that crossed my mind:
1. The mentioned six locks that would have to be opened in spesific order. (The locks will seem to open and do pull back their own deadbolts but without knowing the right order of opening locks the 4 extra deadbolts wouldn't open.)
2. To make drilling unpleasant one could build the safe so, that it has and internal structure that releases more deadbolts if a certain layer is breached.
OR one could make a nice little surprice: a structure of layers in a way that the door is electrical. (Don't know the right term.) Meaning that if a burgular drilled through the first layer (some kind of super-hard plastic or sumtin') he would hit with the drill in to a layer of metal that was connected to a large current source / power source / a big condensator (problem with that might be the legislation, though...)
...these were just from the top of my head, the safe can be made ofcourse practically unpickable if you add high-electronics that prevent opening without a signal from a portable computer
...I think that it would be fun to have a club where people designet safes and locks for other members to brake

how about a really strong magnet behnid all the locks? it shouldn't really affect the working of the locks should it, i dont think brass is magnetic although i may be wrong but i think drill bits and picks are
i like the idea of wiring it to the mains though, im always in favour of toasting burgulars

brass is not magnetic
if you want to drill resistant a lock then fit a sandwidge of hardplate cocrete and lead, throw a few hundred hardened ball bearings as well in the lead eg from out side hard plate, lead, concrete, hard plate, lead, hard plate
with this about 2ins thick i think it would slow a driller down a bit
the hard plate bit would get cloged up by the lead then blunted by the ball bearings the concret woud just finishit off so it would take a few bit changes to get through, then as you get to the lock, some tempered glass on top sides and bottom and frount with a small hole just so the key will fit in it, so that if you breakit the fail safe relockers fire also setting off a smoke dye bomb so the area around the safe is now permantly lime green. also depending on the contents they can also be marked

This topic started to bother me last night and I came up with some new ideas
If you really wanted to make the picking part a living h*ll to the burgular, you could make a lock of your own. Even though it wouldn't be as pick-resistant as abloy or medeco, I think it would be hard to pick a lock you know nothing about. (The lock could be deep, so one couldn't get any visual information)
And I like the quicklocks' idea, layers of different materials in the purpose of breaking the drill. (Or even something to get it stuck for good, so that the bad guy would need to make a new hole )

how about the glass idea with a jet of CS if its broken.
if you could also have the room lock down if it is broken, thus locking the person inside, then only be able to open it rom outside, i.e. the police.

I think the magnet idea would be funny as crumbs. Imagine a burglar getting all ready to pick your high-security locks, pulling his tools out, then having them leap out of his hands and affix themselves to the wall of the safe Then his necklace, his braces, his loose change, his fly...
