As a side note, i tighten up the thumb turn as much as i can with the tips of my fingers and that seems to be around the right tension give or take a slight adjustment here and there.

I find I have a lot of luck on a looser tension setting than tight ones. I also do circular motion while rotating pick clockwise and counter clockwise. I find it speeds up moving the feelers into the correct position. Tubular picks work really fast once you get the feel for them. My first lock took me 60 seconds to pick, now it takes about 5-8 secs
