Depending on what type of padlock, it may be easier to just buy a new one. We need to know what type of padlock it is

Not all padlocks are rekeyable. Providing a model number, or if nothing else, a decent picture, would be helpful. If yours is the rekeyable kind, there may even be info on the manufacturers website to help you through it. Chances are overwhelmingly good someone here can help you, but please provide more information.

for certain locks which have a plate on the side to hold the pins down.

it's pretty cool seeing how a lock works with your own eyes, it really helped me advance in my picking. good luck, there's some good guides on this forum and around google.

just don't loose any pins... as i did :evil:
