Tailpiece? lol.

They don't use tail pieces as far as i am concerned, The end of the cylinder is specialy machined to operate the cam that withdraws the balls from the shackle.

If you want a medeco cylinder for this padlock, call into your local medeco dealer and show him the schlage cylinder.

He/She will find the appropriate medeco cylinder to fit.

actually there is a tailpiece to this. it is not machined into the plug as you can see here(disregard the primus key it does not goto this lock)

I am looking at finding answers on here since the only medeco dealer around where i am is not a very friendly and not only that so when i go in i can just give the man part numbers and be set. Also i like doing the work myself that is why i play around with locks, i am just trying to learn more about them, medeco mostly since i am new to these locks.

thanks for the help anyway :D

That is a schlage kik cylinder? correct?

Then all you need to do is buy the same medeco cylinder and show him the tailpiece you want.

well to tell you the truth i have played with locks since i was a kid i know how to key em, pick em and such but i dont know crap about the names of stuff and what things are called i am trying to gather things, getting the names of all the little crap together.

i was looking at this cylinder to purchase but still am not sure if it will work

Medeco 20W0400 626 Knob Cylinder for Schlage L3S Keyway.right now it has no tailpiece so yep.

also this one but see it has the wrong piece on the back and i am not sure if medeco makes something that will activate the cam to release the ball inside of the lock for this cylinder.

Medeco 20W0901-G3-626 it has 2 screws holding down a plate with a longer tailpiece for like a deadbolt

now i know that medeco makes a cylinder that has the screw down piece like on the back of a schlage lock but i just wanted to see if one of these would work before i buy the dam things. See i want to key etc the lock myslef since that is the fun part (well cheaper too lol) and if a locksmith does it then it is gonna cost $85 bucks US since i called today and that is what he said to me.
